Reader comments on Coffee and Cigarettes

    Subject: theme resolution on film

This film was actually based on near or after death experiences in which the characters confront the devil as a passageway actor trying to sell their way into hell. Each short has either one of the characters actively trying to tempt their way into hell, or in others its erely a symbolic placement. The sets actively take part in this activity and in dilirium the mirror in the background actually loses its reflection of the devil after they leave and snap their fingers. The fun in trying to figure out who is who. This is not heresay but has actually been established as the original script purpose.
