As an actual Christian, this movie really hit me hard. At first, I took great offense to this because it was so open, but when I really dug deeper into the Christian realm of things, I realized that this movie speaks just as much truth as it does stereotype. This movie brought to light much of the hypocrisy of me and my fellow believers. Not to say that most of the movie isn't dramatized in any way, but if someone felt the need to create a movie displaying this kind of stereotypical fundamentalism, there had to be a reason for it. I am actually going to lead a Bible study on this movie because I think it is such an eye-opener. There are many times where we Christians are too pushy, judgmental, prideful, naive, spiteful, jealous, and...the big one...hypocritical. But for those of you who don't know what a "real" Christian is, they are, believe it or not, REAL people that make mistakes just as much as anyone else in the world. The movie Saved! definitely does not portray Biblically correct Christian values/morals, but rather a society of confused, surface Christians and there is a difference. There are those that claim to be followers of Jesus Christ yet their actions indicate no love whatsoever, but that of contempt. This movie is a good example of that. For the Christians out there, this movie should awaken your spirit and realize that there is a world out there that is watching our movement. What are we going to do to change this stereotype? Are we striving to be a consistent follower where our actions reveal God's love rather than His wrath upon humanity and those outside His will? The first act of love for others is TO LOVE others, not judge them. Ultimately, God is the one w/that authority.
