South of the Clouds is a brilliant film using somewhat old fashioned cinematography to give a realistic feel to each scheme. The story shows modern Chinese and how family and personal values are changing very rapidly between generations. It also reminds us that our youth is always there to be revisited. If you wonder what China looks like, particularly within the homes of the urban middle class, this is an excellent way to see it.
