The issue of Afro-Argentines is becoming more popular a discussion, and there seems to be an increasing number of works that address the topic. I located a movie trailer for "Negro Che. Los primeros desaparecidos," and below is a link for the trailer along with another link with info regarding the film.

I'm very excited to find a number of blogs that are increasing awareness about this group of people. I actually read a blog yesterday with a post from an Afro-Argentine woman! She wanted everyone to know that she and her people "are alive and well," as she proudly exclaimed "Africa Vive"! Many people seem to comfortably and nonchalantly explain that Blacks are not in Argentina because of (supposed) "total annihilation," "genocide" or "deportation". I now believe that such claims are part of some Eurocentric ego that wants the rest of the world to believe that Argentina has no Blacks, and that all Argentines are "purely" and ãproudlyä European descendants. For some people, such a Black-free society would be a Utopia. But because of films like "Black Not Like Me" and "Negro Che," as well as blogs like this one, we are shattering the superiority complexes of many people! Furthermore (and more importantly), we are sparking interest in the Afro-Argentine culture so that no further Afro-Argentinean cultural erosion can occur (so inaudibly). ÁAfrica vive y vive en Argentina!
