YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, THANK YOU...THANK YOU FOR THOSE ELOQUENT COMMENTS RE: THE DOCUMENTARY.

I ASSUME FROM YOUR WRITING YOU ARE A "GARAGE ALUMNI" (AS I WAS). ONLY SOMEONE WHO WAS ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THOSE DAYS WILL TRULY UNDERSTAND THE SEQUENCE OF HOW THE FILM UNFOLDS AND HOW THE LOYALTY AND KUDOS TO LARRY ARE JUSTLY DESERVED.

I MISS LARRY, I MISS WALKING UP THE RAMP & HEARING/ FEELING THE BEATS PULSING THRU MY BODY, DANCING SO MUCH THAT MY CLOTHES WERE NEARLY DRENCHED AND THE MELTING POT FACTOR THAT THE GARAGE POSSESSED.

I FELT LIKE I LOST A DEAR FRIEND WHEN THE "G" CLOSED. I WILL NEVER RECOVER BUT I JUST FEEL LUCKY TO STILL HAVE A FEW ORIGINAL LARRY CLUB TAPES (YES TAPES, LOL)STILL IN MY POSSESSION.

THE GARAGE WAS A TRUE MECCA....A PLACE THAT I HAVE MISSED FOR THE LAST 21 YEARS.

    Maestro

I have read a few reviews of the documentary MAESTRO by Josell RAMOS. I can only speak from our experience, being over 200 people aged betweem 40 years old and 50 who ALL found the film riveting, unique and fresh in its filming technique. The way the story weaved the facts throughout the film by interviewing people who played a pivitol role in creating the dance music of today was exceptional. Those who don't understand this film, don't deserve to. I've read many reviews...those who know the music of the era and know how it influenced todays sounds "get"the score in the film. Dance music conisuers understand the music, by weaving original sounds with todays sounds. To dismiss Larry Levan is to ignore the man who was regarded as the MAESTRO of the era - the proof in the pudding. Heartbeat, a song of Levans is the most sampled record ever. Meastro is real.
