Subject: Some late thoughts....
Date: Oct 14, 2002
Last night I rented Mulholland Drive and sat for approx. 2 hours, spellbound and then became totally comfused.
Ive read most of the comments on here and I have to ask... what good is a movie that you have to figure out for 3 days after you've veiwed it.
Some would say, Oh, that's because the movie makes you think... well , it certainly did that.
Others would say... that's David Lynch's style... ok, I agree... he's a take you to the edge kind of director/ writer, and I LOVE Lynch's works.
But I gotta tell ya, I sat through it once and then stayed up till 4 to see it again because I just couldn't connect the pieces.
You can call it genius, but what good is genius if only the genius knows what's going on?
To me it was disorganized and misleading. I had my theories about where I was being lead and they match most people on this list, but in my opinion, when you have to spend 3 days figuring out a movie plot it ceases to be entertainment and should be classified as time consuming.
There were funny parts, I love Lynch's sadistic and dark humor... like the director having a REALLY bad day. It was an ok movie but I wanted more... Lynch draged me to the edge and then pulled me back again....
I like it better when he leads me to the edge
and pushes me over.
