I watched this presentation on A&E which aired 8/5/07. I was appalled at our judicial system and what we have come to be as human beings. First off I don't believe in the death penalty, but for those who do, why have a person on death row for 12+ years before execution? Makes no sense to me. It's just like fattening up a hog only for it to be slaughtered. Who are we to judge? The bible says judge not lest ye be judged. As it was stated in the documentary, if Gloria's mother forgave Wanda Jean, why couldn't the court systems? The only thing that would happen is that Wanda would be in jail for life. Look at Charles Manson, he is still as powerful on the inside as he would be on the outside, yet he still walks the earth. I think Oklahoma state should re-evaluate their present laws and make some changes. I'm sure if one of their loved ones were in that situation, there would be every effort made to insure the life of that individual. This made for TV documentary really did something for me. Not to belittle the fact of the crime committed against another human being, but that we are not a people who should decide an eye for an eye is sufficient.
