Reader comments on Two Men Went to War

I watched this film on TV this evening and enjoyed it. Maybe it was a bit "Dad's Army-ish". but if you lived through World War 2 it takes you right back with memories. I couldn't read the small print at the end as to what happened to the two men, except that I think one became Lord Mayor of Newcastle-on-Tyne, the other going to New Zealand.

    Two men went to war

I've seen the film and didn't really enjoy it. I was Leslie Cuthbertsons Brother in law and I can assure you, the real Les was nothing like the bumbling idiot as portrayed in the film.
I know if Les had been alive and had watched the film he would have been really disappointed at the "Dads army" treatment the film received. He didn't talk very much about the episode but I know he wouldn't have liked it one little bit.
