    Subject: Saw the movie myself!

Not a bad review of the movie.

Unlike yourself, I do not claim to be a devotee of Shakespeare, although I have studied "his" literature (who knows now!). I saw the film last night (in a theatre-setting) and found it very interesting. I am not convinced Marlowe is "Shakespeare", but I am convinced that "Shakespeare" needs to prove the work is really his. Perhaps the conclusion to that study will show that there is no reason to doubt the Bard. I would also be interested to see if Rubbo manages to dig up something in Italy. If the claim has some basis, then surely Marlowe would have been active in both countries.

As for the film, I enjoyed the feeling of "journey" that Rubbo used. I unfortunately did not stay afterwards to hear the discussion, and will be going next week again to see what everyone else thought. The few people I have mentioned it to since are horrified that I could possibly question the authorship of Shakespeare. Strong stuff, indeed.
