I am writing a report on Ana Mendieta and would appreciate any books, articles et al which would be of benefit. Many thanks.

    Response to this comment:
I fell in love with her...

I took up an interest in Ana Mendieta about a year ago and have since read just about any bit of information on her that I could. Her work is challenging, absurd, and beautiful all at once. Her ability to intertwine body and nature is like no other and it is a tragedy that she is no longer with us. Her silhouette piece in the sand with the red thrown across it is burned in my memory and she has forever changed my perception of art. It is all just... perplexing and when looking at her work I find myself digging for clues to her untimely death- some sort of foreshadowing. The irony of her silhouette in sand and then finally to end on a rooftop is mysteriously interesting. I've never followed an artist's life so closely before now, and with a degree in art history, I can safely say her work really does make others pale in comparison.
