Amen! Just as every film Tanzer reviews is "quintessentially French" (or some other parsimonious adjective), I dub his reviews as "quintenssentially New York-y" -- sarcastic, dismissive, and supercilious. The films he names off as being seminal are always arcane (Korean films entitled Peppermint something?!). If he wants to go head-to-head in critique of these predominantly American films, he should dredge up something less obscure -- and back it up with something more than regurgitating film major lingo. What, pray tell, does Mr. Tanzer find to be of significance? Natural Born Killers?

    Response to this comment:
    Josh Tanzer

Josh Tanzer needs to educate himself about even the most basic concepts of filmmaking. Josh even Woody used long takes for no reason other than that's how he likes to work. No gimmick. Educate yourself about how long takes allow for improv and simply speed up the shoot..little editing needed etc. No deep intellectual psycho-babble or done to be cool
