    haven't seen the movie but have to comment on the commentary: "the ten-day festival costs $250 a head, plus thousands more in travel arrangements, provisions, quarters, etc."

    not saying it's not possible to spend that much -- i'm sure many people do -- but for me the $250 ticket was the biggest expense. Greyhound with a 7-day advance purchase from El Paso was only $84 each way, and i could have survived on water (free from the park in downtown Reno) and the $30 in summer sausages i brought. i was gifted some beer and food but it wasn't necessary for my survival. if you can camp out on the playa, you can camp out along the way too, and save yourself hotel costs.

    as for the ticket, i could have purchased it for $185 earlier in the year if i could have made up my goddamned mind about going.

    i saw plenty of others there on a shoestring also -- i wasn't the only one.
