I tried to see this movie at the Vancouver Film Festival last fall, but it was sold out twice, for a good reason. It is strong stuff. Strong in terms of the subject matter (rape and the denial of it), and strong in terms of script, acting and camera. Two breath taking hours go by before you know it. What I got out of it: denial to face the uncomfortable truth is like a solid brick wall. To tear it down requires immense effort, or, like in this movie, persistence, intelligence and wit. Once the armor has been cracked and the truth has been spelled out, the real vulnerable person comes to the surface. In the end all involved are closer to who they really are. A painful struggle, and one very close to home. Because who of us is not in denial and fights to stay blind? Don't do it. (Thanks for your enticing review, David.)
