I am little addicted to this movie about addiction. Ever since I discovered and bought it, I have to watch it three to four times a week. But I think I will stop next month (spoken like a true addict). The story is clipping along nicely, revealing many twists and turns and a rather dark undercurrent. The cinematography is beautiful, the lighting gorgeous and mysterious. The dialogue is priceless, understated, always on the mark. The sounds and the soundtrack evocative...and the look of Clive Owen, incredibly convincing in this role, not too hard on the eyes. As can be said about everyone else in this classy looking cast. My favorite line: "And I thought you were only after my body." You get to watch Clive Owen at his coolest, listen to his smoky voice and hear his thoughts in voiceover (his smoky voice again). Life does not get any better. In the DVD commentary on "Gosford Park", Robert Altmann recalls seeing Clive Owen in "Croupier" and immediately wanting him for the part in his film. I can see why...."Croupier" is a gem.
