I can see both sides of these comments. I even believe that it is entirely possible that many of the images and illusions seen in this film are deconstructed/unrelated circumstances of a loosely constructed film. Images for images sake,if you will.
I also can agree that there is a series of "underlying" themes that can be loosely gathered into a view of the life and death experiences of two people.
At any rate- It took me some time thinking about what it meant and made me examine some of my own perceptions of love and death.

Having seen the movie, and read your comments, it would seem that you, as most of the movie viewing public, simply found this movie too complicated to think about.
