I kept waiting for Treadwell to reveal his wisdom or knowledge about the bears he claims to have "protected," he seemed to know absolutely nothing about the biology of bears, and really used them if anything for his own self aggrandization. I honestly did not feel he had any love, respect, or understanding of these amazing creatures, and was battling his own demons of a juvenile and psychotic nature, which had nothing to do with the park service or even the "human world." I think Herzog is sensitive and tender, and probably gave this sad soul too much credit, he wasn't so much a "naturalist" as a narcissistic, ego dystonic character who exploited the bears. It seems he replaced his alcohol addiction with an obsession to be famous, and living with bears was the only way he could penetrate the world of celebrity. Poor man, poor Amie.

He was a moron
This guy was a complete sick moron. He got his ass and his girlfriend killed mostly because of his own ego. Like most enviromental wackos he set himself up as a messiah and was completely out of touch the reality of nat wit. The problem is that the bears aren't interested in being saved
