    Reader comments on The Intruder

Subject: My take on The Intruder
    Date: Apr 11, 2006

The film divides itself into three stories with two sons' stories, dogs, women and places of snowy silencecity and dockside noises and island places of silence, warm sun, water , loving natives and a cold morgue. His son's customs' wife dog opens the movie at a border crossing. Dogs sniff and run thoroughout. The mystery Russian woman<= was she mother one?
She drags him by horses through the snow and is dream sequence is :But I already paid. And she says,
but as always not enough. And she keeps haunting him . The Tahitian sequence lacked dogs to love but contained a grieving father who loved and was acceptably loved by the natives. The dogsled in the snow scene? Was I mistaken or dig the sled not carry a cargo? Were not two of the dog team, his--even though she had refused to take them earlier. I saw this beautiful film and slept on it and awakened to write this. On a non-verbal dream level the film seems to unravel a story about love , its distancing, sexual attraction , and the sheer physical joy of experiencing life even through grief.
