Subject: In responce to all, tell me other movies like this
    Date: Jun 23, 2002

I'm a 17 year old guy who is still trying to figure out any particular stance i could take on a lot of things, including this movie. I do however know that I loved it entirely espcially its cinamatography, its MUSIC, and it's messages, which so beautifully portrayed the intended illusion of normalcy and a simple life in suberban communities, which of course was false. It did really make me feel the pain of teenagers during that generation, but in truth it could have taken place during any generation. I would ask anyone who reads this to suggest any other movies, music, or books, that provide such an in depth portrayal of life, growing up, etc. To help with suggestions, my favorite movie is "american beauty" (alan ball) currently. As a side note i would have to recomend the HBO series "six feet under," (also created by Alan Ball) to anyone who might have apreciated the overtones of the virgin suicided. thanks for reading and please reply, I think it would be a great thing if we all could share our similar tastes in the art of movies

    intersting but extremely non explanatory

I was extrememly disapponited in this film, despite the fact that it was supposed to be this way. I did expect it to be way more explanatory than it was. They did not really explain or intensify just how bad the parents were or their lives for that matter. They also did not mention at all what happened to Trip Fontaine. They did not even show any graphics or anything in the movie of the death on their faces or anyhting. You could not feel what was happening in this movie. No one seemed to care or be dramatic at all when any of the girls deaths had happened. You could not understand it or feel it at all. :(
