treadwell gave his life for what he belived in during the attack that killed hem he screamed at his girlfreind to run away he new that he was going to die but instead of runing his girlfreind stayed and kept hitting the bear on the head with a frying pan so she could have lived but insted she stayed and died with her lover

The real tragedy here was that Treadwell got his girlfriend killed while "protecting " bears in a preserve. How does one protect animals which are arleady protected? His mania and ego got in the way. If Treadwell truly loved his bears, he would have adhered to the laws of the park, the laws of nature, and gotten his girlfriend out of there as he knew she was frightened of them. To go back into The Maze so late in the year was his other huge mistake. He was bear food waiting to happen.
