I agree wholeheartedly with you. People castigate Treadwell for talking to the bears, giving them names, etc. - yet in an Imax film titled "Bears", Chris Day, an Alaskan environmentalist and wilderness guide, does the same thing and more: she even takes people out to see the bears, she gives them names - and nobody castigates her for it. I can only surmised that America is still not sufficiently adult to accept compassionate, caring, gentle men. Our country still demands the "John Wayne" gonzo type of male humanoid.

Treadwell naive but caring
I watched the film . . he was a child in a grown up body and naive and egotistical. BUT, at least he did care about the animals and what we've left of nature. Better than hunting ONLY for sport and a head on your damn wall. Let these weak minded men call Treadwell a loose nut!! I think he was closer to what is "right" than they. He made mistakes and clearly shouldn't have allowed the woman to be there .. but it was her choice. He loved very much what he was doing and enjoyed his life . . do you???
