As a great fan of Jane Austen's novels, and the movie adaptations as well I was excited about the arrival of Mansfeild park. It is my favourite Austen novel, and had wished to play the part of Fanny Price myself one day! But, disappoined as I was I believe it was a wonderful film, which made one contemplate the issues raised as well as delight in the love story which unfolded. Beautifully acted and filmed!! I'll have to wait for the next one to make my film debut!

"Mansfield Park"
Interesting additions.I am not an Austen purist,so the dark side to society of the time worked o.k. for me.The filming was excellent; the acting, great, especially the attractive leads playing Fanny and Edmund - and wasn't Harold Pinter's portrayal of Fanny's uncle compelling?!I enjoyed the music as it was both witty and romantic. In general this was a very worthy successor to the decade's array of Austen adaptations. Yes, roll on "Northanger Abbey"!
