Whale, what have we here?
It's a rarity for a photo gallery — a collection of dreamlike watercolor drawings by Suzannah Hadorn in the exhibit "White Whale Dreaming."

Although this gallery usually shows artwork created with cameras, this
time around they're presenting pieces accomplished with watercolor crayons
by the artist Suzannah Hadorn in a show entitled "White Whale Dreaming."
These are vivid, dreamlike drawings, at times both childlike and skillful.
On the canvases are ghostlike apparitions; you wonder if they are human
shapes or creatures of the imagination.

Given the title of the show, "White Whale Dreaming," one
would think the works on these canvases are what said whale sees while
sleeping. If that's so, he's dreaming of goddesses and otherworldly
forms. These works are fairyscapes in bright purples, greens, pinks and a
myriad of other shades. On the front wall of the gallery are about two
dozen small drawings on rectangular canvases and in the rear, on a stretch
of glittery gold fabric, are five larger works.
Hadorn's figures bring to
mind those of Arshille Gorky in their biological formativeness, yet her
fanciful sense of composition gives the works a more lighthearted
sensibility. The gallery has a homey, accessible feel as it is located off
the beaten art track.
